Gleichstellungsarbeit ausgezeichnet
Gleich zweimal ist die Universität Oldenburg in diesemSommer
für ihre Gleichstellungsarbeit ausgezeichnet worden. „Beson-
ders erfolgreich“ ist die Universität nach Einschätzung einer von
der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) eingesetzten
Arbeitsgruppe bei der Umsetzung forschungsorientierter
Gleichstellungsstandards. Oldenburg gehört damit zu den 20
Hochschulen der Spitzengruppe, die ein bereits erfolgreich
etabliertes Konzept durch weitere innovative Ansätze ergänzt
haben. Insgesamt wurden 68 Hochschulen durch die DFG
evaluiert. Auch vom Center of Excellence Women in Science
(CEWS) erhielt die Universität beim „Hochschulranking nach
Gleichstellungsaspekten 2011“ Bestnoten. In den Ranglisten
„Studierende“,„Professuren“ sowie in der Steigerung des Frau-
enanteils bei Professuren, wissenschaftlichem und künstle-
rischem Personal gab es ausgezeichnete Bewertungen. Mit elf
von 14 möglichen Punkten zählt die Universität zu den sieben
besten in Deutschland. In Niedersachsen ist die Universität
Oldenburg Spitzenreiter.
Neuer ERASMUS MUNDUS-Studiengang
ERASMUS MUNDUS, das Exzellenzprogramm der Europäischen
Kommission für Hochschulausbildung, fördert den internatio-
nalen Studiengang „European Wind Energy Master“ (EWEM).
Das Kooperationsprojekt mit der Delft University of Technology
(Delft, Niederlande), der Technical University of Denmark (Ko-
penhagen,Dänemark) und der Norwegian University of Science
and Technology (Trondheim, Norwegen) geht imWinterseme-
ster 2012/13 an den Start.Der Studiengang wurde als eines von
30 Projekten ausgewählt. Insgesamt hatten sich 177 Projekte
aus den Mitgliedsstaaten der Europäischen Union für das Ex-
zellenzprogramm beworben. Die Bewerbung der Universität
Oldenburg für den ERASMUS MUNDUS-Studiengang wurde
von ForWind koordiniert. EWEM ist neben dem Masterstudi-
engang„European Master in Migration and Intercultural Rela-
tions“ (EMMIR) und dem Stipendienprojekt TARGET das dritte
ERASMUS MUNDUS-Projekt der Universität. Ende September
wurde EMMIR, der erste Europäisch-Afrikanische Masterstudi-
engang, der sich globalen Migrationsbewegungen widmet, an
der Universität eröffnet.
Interkulturelle Jüdische Studien
Die Fakultät IV Human- und Gesellschaftswissenschaften
der Universität Oldenburg und das Leo-Trepp-Lehrhaus
der jüdischen Gemeinde zu Oldenburg bieten künftig das
deutschlandweit einmalige Zertifikatsprogramm„Interkultu-
relle Jüdische Studien“ für Masterstudierende an. Es startet im
Wintersemester und ist auf zwei Jahre angelegt. Konzipiert
wurde es von Prof. Dr. Andrea Strübind und Prof. Dr. Dagmar
Freist. Im Mittelpunkt des Zertifikatsprogramms stehen die
christlich-jüdische Beziehungs- und Verflechtungsgeschich-
te von der Antike bis zur Gegenwart, der Spracherwerb
des Hebräischen sowie interreligiöse und interkulturelle
Beziehungen zum Islam. Neben einer wissenschaftlichen
Ausbildung ermöglicht die Kooperation den Studierenden
unmittelbare Einblicke in jüdisches Leben in Deutschland in
Vergangenheit und Gegenwart.
Top Grades in Equal Rights Work
The University of Oldenburg has been honoured twice this
summer for its work in the area of equal rights. The university
is "particularly successful", according to a work group set up by
the German Research Council (DFG), in implementing research-
oriented equality standards.This places Oldenburg among the
top 20 universities of the leading group which have added in-
novative approaches to an already successfully established con-
cept. The DFG evaluated 68 universities in total. The university
also received top grades from the Center of ExcellenceWomen
in Science (CEWS) in its "University Ranking According to Equal
Rights Aspects". In the ranking lists "Students", "Professorships"
as well as in terms of raising the proportion of women holding
professorships or working as research or artistic personnel it
obtained excellent scores. After scoring eleven out of 14 possi-
ble points, the University of Oldenburg ranked among the top
seven in Germany, and was the front runner in Lower Saxony.
ERASMUS MUNDUS Course
ERASMUSMUNDUS, the Excellence programme of the European
Commission for higher education, will provide the funding for
the international course EuropeanWind Energy Master (EWEM).
This joint project with the Delft University of Technology (Delft,
the Netherlands), the Technical University of Denmark (Copen-
hagen, Denmark) and the Norwegian University of Science and
Technology (Trondheim,Norway) will be launched in the winter
semester 2012/13. The course was among 30 projects selected
for the programme.A total of 177 projects fromEuropean Union
member states competed to participate in the Excellence pro-
gramme.The University of Oldenburg's application for the ERAS-
MUS MUNDUS was coordinated by ForWind.With the graduate
course "EuropeanMaster inMigration and Intercultural Relations"
and theTARGET scholarship project,EWEM is the university's third
ERASMUS MUNDUS project. At the end of September EMMIR,
the first European-African graduate course focusing on global
migration trends, was launched at the university.
Intercultural Jewish Studies
The University of Oldenburg's School of Humanities and Social
Sciences and the Leo-Trepp Lehrhaus of the jewish Community in
Oldenburg will offer Germany's first "Intercultural Jewish Studies"
certificate programme for graduate students.The two-year course
starts in the winter semester. It was designed by Prof. Dr. Andrea
StrübindandProf.Dr.Dagmar Freist.Christian-Jewish relations from
classical antiquity to the present, learning the Hebrew language
and the study of inter-religious and intercultural relations with
Islam form the core of this certificate programme. In addition to
providing academic training this joint programme enables stu-
dents to gain direct insight into Jewish life in Germany in the past
and in the present.
Cooperation Agreement
with Jacobs University in Bremen
The University of Oldenburg and the Jacobs University in Bre-
men plan to deepen their cooperation in the areas of research
and education.This was the stated aim of a cooperation agree-
