NEW APPOINTMENTS
Der Medizinethiker und -historiker Prof.Dr.
Matthias Bormuth ist auf die Heisenberg-
Professur für Vergleichende Ideenge-
schichte am Institut für Philosophie der
Universität berufen worden. Bormuth
studierte Medizin an den Universitäten
Marburg und Göttingen. Anschließend
war er in der psychiatrischen Assistenz in
Frankfurt/Main und an der Universitäts-
klinik Jena tätig. 1995 wechselte Bormuth an die Universität
Tübingen, wo er bis 2006 Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am
Institut für Ethik undGeschichte der Medizinwar.2001 promo-
vierte er dort mit der medizinethischen Arbeit„Lebensführung
in der Moderne. Karl Jaspers und die Psychoanalyse“. Nach
Assistentenjahren inTübingen folgte 2008 die Habilitationmit
einer Arbeit zur„Ambivalenz der Freiheit.Suizidales Denken im
20.
Jahrhundert“.Als Stipendiat der Alexander von Humboldt-
Stiftung lehrte und forschte Bormuth an der City University
New York und von 2010 bis 2012 als Heisenberg-Stipendiat
an der Columbia University in New York.
Prof. Dr. Matthias Bormuth, a medical ethicist and historian,
has been appointed to the Heisenberg Professorship in
Comparative Intellectual History at the University's Institute
of Philosophy. Bormuth studied medicine at the Universities
of Marburg and Göttingen. He then took up a post as an
clinical assistant in Frankfurt on the Main and at the Uni-
versity Hospital of Jena. In 1995 Bormuth transferred to the
University of Tübingen, where he worked at the Institute of
the Ethics and History of Medicine until 2006. In 2001 he
earned his doctorate there with the book "Lifeconduct in
Modern Times. Karl Jaspers and Psychoanalysis". At the end
of his time in Tübingen he habilitated with the monograph
"
Ambivalence of Freedom. Suicidal Thinking in the 20th
Century". Bormuth taught and did research in the field of
European Intellectual History in 2009/10 at the City Univer-
sity New York as a fellow ot the Humboldt Foundation and
in 2011 at Columbia University.
Prof. Dr. Lars Oberhaus, bislang Junior-
professor für Musik und Musikdidaktik
an der Pädagogischen Hochschule in
Weingarten, ist auf die Professur für Mu-
sikpädagogik am Institut für Musik der
Universität berufen worden. Oberhaus
studierte Musik und Philosophie fürs
Lehramt an der Universität Paderborn
und der Musikhochschule Detmold. In
Detmold promovierte er mit einer Arbeit zum Thema „Mu-
sik als Vollzug von Leiblichkeit. Zur phänomenologischen
Analyse von Leiblichkeit in musikpädagogischer Absicht“.
Anschließend absolvierte er sein Referendariat in Marburg
und war Gymnasiallehrer in Hameln. Während seiner Juni-
orprofessur in Weingarten leitete Oberhaus das Zentrum für
Schulentwicklung und Professionalisierung. Außerdem war
er Vorstandsmitglied im Arbeitskreis für Schulmusik Baden-
Württemberg. 2007 erhielt Oberhaus beim Internationalen
MusikpädagogischenWettbewerb den 2.Preis für seine Arbeit
„
Lichtmalen – Musik beleuchtet“.
Prof. Dr. Lars Oberhaus, previously junior professor for music
and music didactics at the University of Education Weingar-
ten, has been appointed professor of music education at the
University's Institute of Music. Oberhaus studied to teach
music and philosophy at the University of Paderborn and the
University of Music Detmold. In Detmold he earned his doc-
torate with a paper titled "Music as the Execution of Corpo-
reality. On the Phenomenonlogical Analysis of Corporeality
in Music Education". He went on to complete his probation
training in Marburg and taught at a secondary school in Ha-
meln. During his junior professorship in Weingarten Ober-
haus was the director of the Centre for School Development
and Professionalisation. He was also a member of the board
in Baden-Württemberg's Working group for School Music. In
2007
Oberhaus won the 2nd prize in the International Music
Education competition for his work "Lichtmalen – Music En-
lightens".
